Report forum problems, give suggestions here

Hey Leo,

I tried to sign up using my Gmail address but it says the address is invalid. Is intentional to minimise the spam bots joining or just something overlooked? I would have liked to use my Gmail address but have had to use one of my domain name addresses which I use for work purposes.

That's really strange, since I was able to sign up with my gmail account without a problem.

I could also join with my gmail account - do you use any special characters? (I don't remember if gmail allowed them or not...)

I have a dot in the middle, firstname.lastname@gmail.com. That might be the problem?

Oh, if you haven't use phpbb before Leo make sure gzip compression is switched on in the admin panel. I had mine on default which is off and I went through a lot of bandwidth before I realised on one of my sites! :oops:

Normally, this should not be a problem - but here I registered without a dot in the address, so who knows?

I guess only Leo can help us with that. Maybe he can change it for me at some stage :)

2 Suggestions from me:

1. Offer RSS feeds for the forum and individual topics
2. Include link back to the blog in the forum header or something

@Sid: Sorry, I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm trying to look into it now, but as far as I know, Gmail addresses should work. My gmail address has a dot in the middle of my name and it still worked. If anyone else has this problem, please let me know.

@mhdhallak: Great suggestions! I will implement them, but give me a day or so as I'm currently swamped. :) I appreciate the suggestion.

I registered my gmail address just fine.

I can't set the time in my profile set so the time displays correctly--the best I can do through adjustments to GMT results in my time being about 26 minutes off. I'm in the Eastern Zone.

I want to add a "ditto" to the RSS feeds. I'd be very eager to have them.

I also wanted to mention that I love this theme - it's so EASY to see which forums have unread threads when they're bright red! :D

More topic forums - Hobbies, food, gardening, companion animals, off-topic, politics, spirituality, etc, etc, etc... Okay, you prolly don't want a bunch of very specific forums just yet, but you might later...

larger avatars! 80x80 is pretty tiny...



Sorry, don't want to sound like I'm complaining! I'm sure you have a lot of improvements in mind for the site, and I'll be happy to patiently await them. Thank you for the new forums!

As for more forums, I'd like to stick with a small number and then expand slowly. I don't want a bunch of dead forums. :) But those are great suggestions and will probably be implemented in the coming weeks.

Very nice idea; I'd love an "off-topic" or "General" forum as well though, those can be really fun, and help keep other forums clean. And you can play one of the many famous forum games there, yay! Lol :D

You can either send me a Private Message through this forum with the username you'd like, or I can delete your current account and you can register again with a new username ... just send me a PM through this forum and I'll help you either way.
