Goal: daily exercise and no sweets.

Report: I ran for 50 minutes today -- tough workout! I'm pretty tired and going to bed now. However ... I cheated on the sweets again. I need to buckle down with that habit. :)

#1 is complete. I notice that it is getting easier and I get more reps in during the 3 minute pushes and alts. I'm sticking to 5 leg lifts for now, though.

#2 will be in the yard, I want to get around to where I can fertilize before the next rain (expected on Thursday, 7-19)

Ok...

Goal: to write atleast once a day, and blog atleast once a week.

So far, I have not done too well. I am about 6 for 16 on the daily writing, and I have not blog at all this month. I do plan to write some today,so that will actully bring me to 7 for 16. It seems that this goal was alot harder than I planed. The month is not over, I plan to try and pick it up some and see if I can finish the month better than I started it.

#2 is complete. The Southwest corner of the lot is now cleared out enough for now and I will proceed along the South side toward the front of the lot. I also will spray a fertilizer and weed control on the lawn tomorrow before the now-predicted Tuesday-Wednesday showers.

I am now {14 for 16 in July}

Gary ... don't get discouraged yet! Just forget about the days you missed and focus on one day at a time. If there are obstacles that stopped you from doing your habit on certain days, plan to get around them. But don't dwell on failures ... we all go through them. I ate sweets for 3 days in a row! But I'm going to do better from here on out ... just move forward!

You can do this. Even if you're not successful this month (considering your difficult start), you can continue it next month. No worries!

goal: play guitar daily

Hi everybody

Continued in the relentless pursuit 8) of mastering "black is the color" from the guitar as dulcimer lesson that I have been working on.
Moved on to example 2 of the lesson today, Also started with example 3.

Principles applied:

Reading Tabulature
Arpeggiating and fingerpicking
keeping the bassline/melody dominant/distinct in the piece

15 for 16. We are halfway there. :D

Remember : " the past does not equal the future"

See you on Tuesday.

Goal: study for the GRE 30 minutes a day.
Log: After a long hiatus, I got back on the wagon today, finally finishing the algebra review test. Still haven't "graded" it, though. I also found out today I got a 4.0 in my CS class this summer, so I'm pretty stoked about that. Overall my progress this month is 10 out of 16.

Watch list: exercise 20-30 minutes a day.
Log: Nothing today.

Goal: exercise at least 30 minutes every day

Today I hiked in the hills behind my house. The evening light was amazing, though I did reinjure an old problem with my right big toe. Watched the sunset from our deck with an icepack on my foot. I'm 16 for 16 - posting my progress has proved to be very motivating for me.

Goal: No forums or RSS reading from work computer.

Day 5 - Monday July 16: Got bored this afternoon at work and was tempted to cheat and read
just the subject lines of my feeds (I would never have been able to stop there), but stopped
myself! Read them when I got home and they weren't that interesting anyway. Yay! I'm not
even interested AT ALL in checking out the forums, hurray for me!

I had a semi-offline weekend so I believe this is the first update for me since Friday. As with the previous weekend I was able to acheive what I wanted to do.

Goal: Establish evening routine. Sub-goals: Read, make lunch for the following day and clear desk. I managed to get all three sub-goals completed. I was particularly motivated because I wanted to get into work early.

Goal: Bike to work (and back)
Log entry: Had an appointment today that was not reachable (for me at least) by bike, so n/a. 6-for-10 (60%)

Watchlist: Get up early (5:15 am)
Log entry: Nope again. 33-for-44 (75%)

Comments: Still terribly hot. I feel like I'm slipping out of this challenge (I haven't even managed to check in for days). I liked the old email check-in better!
