Goal: Write for about 40 minutes a day.

Success: Well, I haven't exactly kept it perfectly, but I've been writing a lot more. Also, I am on the second chapter of a short story, and the first one has been posted on the internet. I'm fairly happy with the last three weeks.

Goal: Get up at 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Progress: Up at 5:00 a.m. again. No snoozing -- just out of bed and onto the workout mat. Went to bed a bit later than I should have last night, though.

#1 is complete. It went very smoothly and I am looking at increasing the number of leg lifts to 8.

#2 will probably be outdoors for at least part of the time - it is clear and dry and cool.

#2 was outdoors and is complete. I managed to prune and weed along the South fence from the SouthWest corner of the yard to the fence right next to the West edge of the house. It was nice to get out in the sun and the yard again.

I am now {21 for 24 in July}

Goal: Bike to work (and back)
Log entry: The weather was too bad. 6-for-15 (40%)

Watchlist: Get up early (5:15 am)
Log entry: No way - the baby kept us up again. She has a routine checkup today, and we'll see if her sleeping habits have a medical cause (I don't think so). If not, we'll keep her up a bit more during the daytime so she sleeps more soundly at night. 33-for-52 (63%)

Comments: I am dog tired. I will go to bed by 10:30.

My goal: stop drinking coca-cola. Coming into today I was 23/24 (I started on July 2nd) :)

Cracked again today, so have come for inspiration. I am determined that this will not be the beginning of the end!

I cracked basically because I feel terrible. I had a bit of an accident yesterday on my bicycle, causing some quite painful damage to my legs, and I have been left a little concused, something which I did not realise when I set out from the house (on foot!) this morning. I've returned home now (am a grad student, there's no sense in me going in and risking collapsing in the lab, and I control my own schedule), and am watching West Wing DVDs.

Great to see so many people making progress - we're all on the home straight now!

Claire - just want to say, you can do it! I quit Diet Coke a few months ago and have been off for several months and it feels so great!

Try substituting anything you can for the soda (as long as it's not something you like to have with the soda). Water, crunchy things, oh hell, food - if you were drinking full calorie soda, you can engage in a few snacks now.

Finally, you've had an accident and that's not an easy thing to get through. Breaking your record on how many days in a row you've been off the soda isn't a dealbreaker--those numbers don't matter today. Just pick yourself up and don't do it two days in a row or even two cans in a row!
