Goal: Sleep 8.
Result: Slept 7.
Also: 20 min meditation, wrote morning pages, read The Artist's Way AND got to work at 8 (a previous, hard-fought Challenge).

Musings: Although I've hit most of my Challenge goals imperfectly (except quitting Diet Coke - that was absolute, although I had a tapering off plan for that month) since I first started doing these - I think in March - great progress has been made on each of them, and that's the most important thing:
[list:f96a183da0]I now get to work a full hour to an hour-and-a-half or more earlier than I used to; [/list:u:f96a183da0][list:f96a183da0]I've lost a solid 4 or 5 pounds and haven't gained it back; [/list:u:f96a183da0][list:f96a183da0]I sleep much more than I used to during the weekdays; [/list:u:f96a183da0][list:f96a183da0]I've quit drinking Diet Coke![/list:u:f96a183da0]
Wow! And, as a bonus, I've developed a nice morning practice (most days) of meditation, writing morning pages, and doing some self-development or spiritual reading.

The most important thing for me (besides posting here) is keeping the goals real simple and doing only one new one each month. This month, my new one was sleep 8, and I have the long-term carryover of losing 1# a week, for a total goal of 20 pounds (I think it'll take me a while to get there on that one, as I resolve my "issues.")

tpermuy - huge congrats on two months!!! Yippee!!

Goal: Bike to work (and back)
Log entry: Not possible today. I had to get my scooter from the garage - it is fixed again and the lady who was responsible paid for it. 6-for-16 (38%)

Watchlist: Get up early (5:15 am)
Log entry: Went to bed early and did not get woken up for once. Had a lot to catch up, so I didn't force myself out of bed when the alarm went off. Got up later than planned (7:30 am), but feel a lot better today. 33-for-53 (62%)

Comments: The baby is fine, the doctor agreed to our idea that she only sleeps too much during the daytime. As if she had understood, she finally slept through the night today for the first time in days (seems like weeks to me). Although I missed both goals today, I am beginning to see the light and am confident I can get back on the wagon soon.

#2 is complete. I completely edged around the back yard, scythed some of the straggling tall stalks, and gave it a quick mowing so that it won't be very high by the time I get around to mowing the whole yard.

I am {22 for 25 in July}.

goal: play guitar daily

All over the map tonight and couldn't seem to find anything that I could get into. In the course of my practice time played
or attempted the following songs:

wasted on the way
all the lonely people
best of my love
he was a friend of mine
long may you run

and figured out the opening riff for "mr. soul" . 8)
THAT was probably the most satisfying moment this evening.

Goal: exercise at least 30 minutes every day

Today I went to swim practice, though I did only 2500 meters. I'm not sure if the workout was harder than usual or if I was feeling weak, but I didn't finish in time.

Goal: lose 1#/wk via calorie max of 1600/day.
Results: Full disclosure--3192 total (3493 food - 300 exercise). What was I thinking?

I'm thinking of changing my official weigh-in day to Monday or Tuesday. Right now it's Friday, and I think I have trouble with eating as an escape as the week goes on due to the stress of work, and to have a bad weigh-in on Friday makes it even worse.
