Hi everyone!
I've had much better success with this challenge thanks to the forums! My challenge was to give up drinking coca-cola. I have managed 26/29 so far this month without it, which is a massive improvement over June when I was probably drinking a couple of 500ml bottles most days. Even when I have succumbed, it's been to 835ml/350ml/500ml respectively.
So I started thinking ahead to next month. I want to carry on with last month's and pick up a new one, and I'm looking for advice about what to go for. I'm a little wary of going for another dietary one, as I know if I restrict myself too much from foods I tend to get antsy and binge. Plus I'm not eating too badly at the moment anyway. I'm wondering about a schedule/productivity goal, or exercise? Maybe even a good habit to actively do, rather than something to give up (hope that makes sense!)
Has anyone had particular success or problems with one challenge following another? And what's anyone planning to do next?
Am excited about next month already! :D

Hi Claire, you've done really well with your challenge. I haven't done so well. I have done my challenges on most days but have failed at the weekends so I will have to look more closely at this next month. My morning routine is working really well and I will continue this next month but the 10 minutes of decluttering and 10 minutes housework I think I will join together and class as 20 minutes housework because quite often the decluttering goes with this.
Good luck for August challenge.

I thought I would try two this month... one work related and one personal.
#1 - Process my email inbox to zero each day.
#2 - Start getting up earlier and using that time.
My idea for #1 came from Merlin Mann and his talk, "Inbox Zero" with the people over at Google which was commented on over at lifehacker.

Just thought I would share mine.

I think I am good on the exercise, but I will still report it -- reporting it and having a record seem to be important in having me stick to it. The "Getting Out" discipline is still needed also. I'm not ready to cast off my crutches.
On the work front, I am working through moving from beta preview to full-up public beta by the end of August (I'm thinking mid-September is a better promise though, so I can take a week of vacation at the end of August). That would be good. But my existence structure for that seems to be working.
I think for a new existence structure I need to get to work on GTD organization, and that means getting rid of the clutter and clearing all of my in boxes. I think I will add that as number #3 in August. There are tons of things I need to do to have an inviting and energizing work space.

Fist of all, congratulations to all of you who took part in the July challenge! It's obvious that you made a lot of progress since the beggining of it!
As for me, this is going to be my first challenge because I was late for the July one. I know that I should have only one goal but I'll try to do three things (none of these are new to me but this time I want to turn them into habits):
1. Wake up at least one hour earlier (6 a.m) on weekdays and use the extra hour for my morning routine which includes writing, planning and reading. I doubt that I'll have enough time for the three of them so only writing will do for now
2. My goal is to lose some weight (about 10 kg) until October so this month I'll eat more healthy, walk more and the most important of it : try only when I'm hungry. By the end of August I want to lose 4 kg
3. Be more creative
Good luck to everyone!! :)

I'm still trying to decide what I will do in August. My July goal, to study for the GRE 30 minutes a day, doesn't make sense given that I'll be taking the GRE on August 18th.
Looking for another job is becoming increasingly important to me, so maybe my goal should revolve around that. Part of that includes updating my websites and creating a web portfolio. We'll see. I also have to judge what other things are important in my life right now.

Wow, tomorrow is August already!
I'm definitely continuing my weight loss Challenge. My total weight loss goal was to be 20 pounds by sometime in Sept, but I may have to modify the end date, since it's been slow going from when I started in late May. I've now lost about 5.5 pounds. So, a pound a week for August for a total of 4.5 pounds for the month, which will take me to 10 pounds since I started - now that's an impressive number! Damn, I would like that.
I'm going to also add a new goal for August too, but I'm not sure what yet. Last month, I initially added something that, on top of the weight loss, was just too hard. I think it was setting Big Rocks for the week. I needed something that would complement the weight loss. The Challenge of sleeping 8 hours a night turned out to work out great as a complement. It's nurturing and some research shows that lack of sleep decreases your leptin, thus increasing your appetite. Focusing on getting more sleep has worked well for me.
What will I pick for August?
orcmid, I am intrigued by your phrase "existence structure" - how are you defining that for yourself?
