After looking back the past year i have been so "Working on self" that i have forgot about my friends! We all know the game call me i'll call you. But what is a good amount to call someone who you have known for years, fairly new friend, and someone you just met?

Do you classify your friends i.e.: class a friends are best friends class b friends are good friends class c are people you know class d are co workers and new friends. ect...

if you do classify your friends how do you classify them and where do you put your partner or is that a seperate classifacation?

Do you keep a friend file? I have tried this for a minute lol and feel that i would need a moleskin pocket book to do this more effentenly! :)

I'm just looking for great thought out tips to maintain healthy relationships with the humans around us. I already know to be honest and care and all the basic stuff return calls follow up(i tend to forget that hense the friend file!)
Any suggestions?

I spent a lot of time in my late teens and early 20's involved in online gaming, I became well known in a community and still float around there from time to time and the occasional game to escape reality. But the network was run by an ISP, of which paid for various movie nights for some of it's customers, we also had many social events. I've come to know some good people over the years and how I manage to remember all their names I don't know, but I know literally hundreds of people now.
But some have become very good friends in my life away from gaming, some are considered very close friends and I'd bend over backwards to do anything for them because I know they would be doing the same for me and have done so in the past.
I have only a few friends that I would call life friends, these are the people that I can relate to, talk to easily (which isn't an easy thing for me), and usually I can look at them and see through to their soul and know that they are a genuine person and would not let anything to get in the way of friendship.
I still keep in contact with as many of my long time/good friends, I recently caught up with someone a few weeks ago for her birthday whom I haven't seen in about 2 years, but we had been through a lot together. She had an eating disorder while I was going through a severe line of depression, and we are like 2 peas in a pod now! :) and always watch out for eachother.
It's friends like those that you will have for a long time because they do genuinely care about you.

Hi Pril79,

Be compassionate with yourself and others. Do unto yourself as you would do unto others.

I believe that being compassionate is not the whole answer. I have some really good friends I've know for the past 15 years and sometimes weeks go by before I receive a call. That means I have to call them more frequently. Once I get on the phone with an old friend we usually talk for 1-2 hours. This made me realize it was probably a good idea to make the call. Be the example by taking action and others will follow suit. Nowadays, I find that my friends call me more frequently because I've made the initial connection.
