I'm checking in as well.
Goal: Wake up at 5:00
Hmm, I was awake at 5, but I stayed in bed until 5:25. I'm not going to count this one, so I'm 23 of 24 now. It's still a heck of a lot earlier than a month ago, but I don't want to slip.
Is anyone thinking about their next challenge already? I sure am :) I think it's going to be to exercise (running and weightlifting) 5 days of the week.

I'm checking in and still not doing so good, this cold has really knocked me for six. Once that's gone I hope to be back to being more disciplined. It's making me sleep badly, so that just messes everything up.
Three day weekend coming up in the UK, and I intend to do a lot of writing. I'm not feeling sociable with the sniffles anyway, and the British weather is being unreliable as usual, so I won't mind snuggling in front of the laptop and just typing all day.
Couple of other tasks to do: clear out old video tapes, do at least an hour sorting out the kitchen cupboards. That's a job for a couple of weekends to come, done in bitesized chunks. I also want to do my first GTD style weekly review.
I'll report back on Monday!

Well I'm 22 out of 24 for now. One sick day and one day overslept.
Does anyone else find it difficult to get out of bed when the weather gets cool/cold :?:
In the summer I practically jump out of bed but when it's cold I sleep deeply and almost nothing can wake me up including my internal alarm.

Check in (for today and update on the last few days) - Have just spent the last few moments sorting out my records of the last few days. Have had a bit of an up and down week as I moved house, so had monday off, then on tuesday got very little lab time in (similarly the Friday before due to moving issues). However since wednesday I have been up to 4 or 5 hours a day again. Just updating y'all in case anyone's paying attention!
My goal for August is 4 hours of lab work a day for my PhD. Today I managed to do a 5 hour session on the microscope. It's left me a bit wiped, but glad it's done. And yes I did have a coffee break, it wasn't non-stop!
Goal from July, continuing - no coca-cola, at all - I am very proud of myself for this, it has taken a lot of willpower. I have decided to aim to go until the new year without drinking it at all, and am forming an excellent Seinfeldian Chain so far! I'm also getting much better at asking for alternatives - Sprite if I want something fizzy, coffee for caffeine, and plain old water if I'm just thirsty.
Seinfeldian chain - 28 days long
Since start, I'm at 52/55
In August, I'm at 24/24

Goal: to do something everyday to advance my career.
Log: Today I worked on my application for the computer science program. I now have a copy of my resume ready to go to my institution of choice and a transcript request ready to go to my undergrad college, and I've sent out emails to three people who might (I hope) write me recommendations. Work is looking up, too; I'm at 14 out of 24 and I feel great :)

A good day for me today. I got to bed on time last night and got up and jogged/walked for 45 minutes. I covered a lot more ground than I was able to earlier in the week without really trying to go faster. I love it when I see progress!
Good luck to all over the weekend!

Stretch/yoga 5 min: Nope. (17/24)
Lose 1#/week through calorie max of 1800/day: 1800 total (2217 food less 417 exercise). Yay! (8/24)
I'm going on vacation and not bringing my laptop, so it's very unlikely I'll be checking in again this month. I will be keeping track of all this for my data collection effort, but offline now. See you in September!
Claire - congrats on kicking Coke! I still can't believe I kicked Diet Coke - I still want it when I stop and think about it, but most of the time, I don't miss it at all.

#2 is complete. For the first half of the yard I kept thinking that maybe I'd stop and finish the rest on August 25. But the grass had not grown in very heavily, just unevenly, and once I could see the end in sight, finishing off the back half wasn't so bad.
I am now {22 of 24 in August}.
