Greetings, hello and howdy, this is the Daily check-in thread for October 21, 2007.
A Chinese proverb says:
If you travel only on sunny days, you will never reach your destination.
Through the good and through the rough, onward we go!
As for myself - eating last by 6.30 PM is going well for me.

The only thing I think I need to get better is post here everyday.

I'm new to the forum. I joined to try to get some public accountability for my goals. I want to be up by 6AM and out of bed by 7AM. I want to do my Kundalini Yoga practice ever day (so far so good on that one), I want to simply log the food I eat (with no "shoulds" involved at this point, simple logging) and I want to be more systematic about getting my work done. I am a sole practitioner and a professor with a small seminar, a few doctoral dissertations underway, and a few Independent Studies. It should not be hard to work on my other projects but I am wasting a huge amount of time. I need to hold myself accountable somewhere, and maybe this is a good place to do a daily check in, on how I am doing in these very doable, reasonable, small goals.

Well, I set my alarm for 8, then when it went off at 8, I changed it to 9. But I got up instead of sleeping in until 11. I'm sort of proud.

I came into this day at {11 of 20 for October}
Promise:
#3/4 Productivity/Visibility: 2 hours with visible result on web, blog, or other public visibility
#3/4 complete. Oddly, I didn't post the promise before - I dropped out reporting.
It was worse on my day-timer full-month calendar page where I note my progress --- I hadn't posted any results since Wednesday. That's how I knew I had really fallen off the rails and needed to recover quickly. So be it.
I am now at {12 of 21 for October}.

Put in contact lenses every day: Did not wear them at the weekend. 11/21. I was out Friday night with friends way too long and did not want to put them in at Saturday. Sunday, my brother was visiting - I had no time to put the lenses in before he arrivedand didn't want to fiddle with it when he was there. He left in the evening, and then I was too tired.
I'm not too successful with this challenge (mostly time issues because I don't want to put the lenses in just for a few minutes) but I think I'll keep the lenses. I have an appointment with the optician at the end of the week, so we will check how to continue then.
From Friday night, a desire for another habit change arose: in the last weeks, due to renovations in my flat etc, I couldn't live my normal lifestyle (daily sports etc) - now I found myself drinking more alcohol than usual. I never drink at home but when I go out with friends in the weekends. In the last 12 months, I rarely drank even when going out and when I did, only a glass or two. This has changed the last weeks, and now, I want this to change again. Stop this stupid behavior of drinking alcohol! ;) Maybe I'll make some small exceptions, but I want to reduce it to an absolute minimum.
So here we go: No alcohol (started 20th of Oct): 2/2.

Didn't find the time to post for a couple of days. Getting ouf bed on time didn't really work on the weekend. But so far it worked on every workday, like today :)
