From a previous post by Our Leader:

What new habit will you form this month? Use the power of the group to motivate you to success!

Remember:

1. One habit at a time is best.
2. Small goals are more successful in these challenges -- don't bite off too much at once.
3. If you post every day to this forum, you'll be more successful -- more accountability = better motivation.

Good luck everyone!

Here's my edited-down version of Mike's handy bookmarklet:

And here's a version for those with two goals:

[code:1:0d08f52a0b]javascript:(function(){document.getElementsByName('message')[0].value='(PUT HABIT GOAL HERE): \\n(PUT SECOND HABIT GOAL HERE): ';})()[/code:1:0d08f52a0b]

The outputs look like this:

[code:1:0d08f52a0b](PUT HABIT GOAL HERE):
(PUT SECOND HABIT GOAL HERE):[/code:1:0d08f52a0b]

Let the habit-creating begin! Time for the first and by far easiest step commence: Choose a habit to develop!

I have too many goals but the two I want to focus on are:

1.Stick with my diet. Well, it's now exactly a diet, more of a healthy eating plan
2. Catch up with my school work

Good luck to everyone!!

Hi everybody. Newbie in the forum.

I'm going to try two goals:

1. Begin going to work by train. Good for health and wallet.
2. Prepare everything the night before.

I am also new here. In the spirit of keeping things simple, I will only put up one goal:
Wake up Monday-Friday without hitting the alarm clock's snooze button.

I figure I can eventually move that into waking up earlier.... one thing at a time though ;)

I'm repeating a goal that I've done a couple of times before, but which apparently didn't take: arrive at work by 8 am.

Since my previous attempts have failed, we'll go with...

10 Sit Ups per day.

Its not a lot, but maybe I can work up to something decent.

I am going to try the first habit in one of Leo's recent posts about living like a zen monk - I am going to try to only do one thing at a time! (Cutting down on multitasking in a big way).

I have much more work to do on accounts and finances, and the hourly commitment per day is just starting to be a habit, one I can add to the other successful ones developed here and still operation.

Promise: 1 hour on accounts and finances each day.

My goal for this month is focus: focusing on using my time well and efficiently in work, and making best use of my leisure time so I get to do all the stuff I want to - and have some time for relaxing too!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums but I've been reading Zen Habits for months.
My challenges:
1- No refined sugar, apart from in Dark Chocolate.
(I'm completely sick of sugar cravings and I get kind of dizzy if I don't eat often enough so I'm hoping this will help. I'm good with apple juice concentrate, maple syrup and dried fruit for now. I don't expect to loose weight as this is a big big challenge for me, so to get over the habit forming month I'll let myself eat whatever want so long as it has no refined sugar. I'm vegan though, so how bad can it be?)

2- One hour of either translation work or reading for my degree every day.
(I'd like to do ten lines of translation from Anglosaxon every day, but I'll settle for reading if not.)

I'm going to use the month of April to consolidate. The daily meditation has been slipping, and I'm not feeling solid in the other goals yet.

Meditate daily.
Run OR weights five days a week (alternating).
If it's slow at work, set aside at least 15 minutes of professional enrichment.

My challenge for this month is to spend at least half hour a day for the preparation of my upcoming competitive examination in July '09. It can be studying or developing the activities and so.
I hope I can keep this up!!!

Now this will be a challenge and a half.

As of now, I have 62 items in the work inbox and 25 in my personal inbox.

When both work & personal Inboxes are empty I'm allowed to order myself a big pile of books online.

Hi everyone, new guy here.

Two goals for this month:

1. Stick to a harder workout plan. I already work out occasionally but my cardio is really lacking and it shows in my gut. So I need to add in some more consistent running.

2. Study for school at least one half hour every day. That's not much, but it's more than I typically manage.

Good luck to everyone this month!

So there are two habits I want to implement this month. I know it's too much, but one is absolutely necessary, and the other is fun... :D

1- By any means possible, be at work by 8:30 am every weekday.
This is the biggie, and the continuation of what I've been working on for 2 months. Still trying to get ready the night before and get up with the alarm, but I've decided that if all else fails, I still must be at work by 8:30, even if I'm not washed / not ready / whatever. Otherwise I'll end up losing my job over such an insignificant detail. I have new bf's support in this too. :D If it goes well, I'll slowly transition into getting up early enough to include something fun in my morning routine, like yoga or swimming or reading, so I have something to look forward to when I get up.

2- Every day either work out or work on my dancing
I've recently found new motivation to push my dancing harder and bringing it to competition level is now a solid goal for 2008. So every day, I will either hit the gym or spend an hour at home working on new steps, practicing old ones, choreographing my routine with my partner.

Wish me luck! Spring always brings me extra motivational boosts, so I think I can take this on!

The daily yoga seems to have stuck, so the new challenge is to get my nutrition on track by bringing lunch and snacks to work every day. I'm underweight, and if I don't bring something, I don't eat -- which makes me cranky and unfocused. So hopefully I'll save money, gain a little weight, and improve my productivity.

Good luck to all, especially the newbies,

MfC

I'm new to the forum, but not to Leo's blog. I just figure it's time for me to jump in with this - especially as I don't have any business travel scheduled for the next month.

My overall goal for the next two months is to book-end my day by having morning and evening routines for myself. I feel like I'm sort of untethered, and if I can implement some routines around the basics, then I'll be taking care of myself well AND making time to do work in my work hours - I work from home, and so this is also part of trying to separate work time and home/self time.

This month I'm going to implement the evening routine - it involves self care (washing face, brushing teeth, filing nails, etc.) as well as spending time journaling and preparing for the next day (laying out clothes, writing daily plan).
