Managed yesterday, and did a LOT of decluttering in the bedroom--I unloaded almost my entire video collection via Craigslist, probably about five cubic feet, although it was stored pretty compactly and didn't really take up much useful space. Did cost me a box I was using to store stuffed animals in, though, so they're in a pile now. Today is going to be tough because I won't be home much.

Fourth day and I failed with morning routine. I woke up at 6.30, but didn't feel like getting out of the bed. When I realized I have like 30 minutes left to leave to work, I rushed to brush my teeth and dress up. In other words I was too lazy in the morning to get up 5 minutes earlier to do exercises. So sad : - |.
Surprisingly, computer-free hour habit goes very well. Haven't slipped on that yet. As I felt bad about mornings failure, during the computer-free hour I managed to do exercises.
I plan to go to sleep with a positive attitude tomorrows towards morning routine and a thought it's just few minutes to do exercises in my mind. This method works well when I have really important things to in morning, so let's hope it will work this time.

5/13: Another setback... although not quite as bad (9:30). 1h late.. Ugh. I even went to bed early last night, and woke up with a start with my last (loudest) alarm, but then I was dizzy so I laid my head down for a few seconds... and woke up an hour later. Ah, the excuses I can make for myself.
Planning on going to the gym for yoga class. Who knows? Maybe even some solo dancing at home tonight! (although I have to watch the final Habs game tonight!!) :D
Update: 12/17 Yeah, no exercising or dancing yesterday. Habs game, then friends over, then trying to buy tickets to the game in Boston, since our Habs failed to eliminate the Bruins last night... well hey, at least I'm getting a road trip out of it!

Sat today for about 12 minutes. I barely squeezed it in at the end of the night, but I really am committed to this habit change so I stuck with it in spite of the inconvenience. My mind was relatively calm and it felt good, however towards the end my mind began to be more restless.
One thing I am noticing is that as I walk throughout campus I am more present, less consumed with my thoughts. Thinking less is very helpful to me because I'm easily overwhelmed by my snowball thinking.

At least I'm checking in, which is an improvement on yesterday.
Work inbox is 22 down from 26 at last check-in. Personal inbox is exactly the same at 9 - though that hides all the ruthless deleting and filing I did last night to clear out what had collected after a few days of not checking.
The score is unfair to the results so far, which is that I'm much better off than at the start of the month. I no longer cringe when I open my email :D

Did it. I notice that I'm still buying snacks and coffee at the cafeteria, which is a waste of money. I don't know quite how to approach that. I can bring a greater variety of snacks -- it helps to have something sweet -- but I can't imagine bringing coffee to work, and I don't want to join the department coffee collective, since I would almost certainly end up washing the pots (no one does it now).
I'm more concerned about the morning internet time-suck. How would things change if I didn't read the paper/do email/check in on a million websites/read blogs every morning before work? I'm considering trying it for a few days as a prelude to May.
Good luck everyone,
MfC

Met the challenge by getting the work done before breakfast, since it was going to be a busy day.

Yesterday I went for a walk and came to realizations with my fears and anxieties.
I also talked with my best friend about this. I "failed" at piano. I need to practice.
I'm creating more stress by not doing so.
