Read Or Be Banned: The Rules Of Spam

Alright, people. In the interest of finally ending the parade of non-Viagra-toting spam, I will lay down the law once and for all. This is only a second draft of the rules, so I might add to them in the future.

In all things, remember: 24 If people are talking about barbells and you happen to be an expert and salesman, go ahead and link them to the 'how to choose a barbell' page on your site. Do not hijack conversations to make them relevant. As for starting your own thread, you may, but, in general, only to ask a question or for advice ("Has anyone used this service, and should I?" or "Does anyone want to look at my new blog post?"). There are exceptions, which the mods will weed out, usually with a light warning.
24 I'd better see at least postcount 5 before you even mention what you do. Exception: Your nick and signature are your own. Mention your site, profession, whatever.
24 Get a blog and link to it. If I google your post and find it on even one other messageboard or blog, I will delete/blank your post. You may post a short (two paragraphs or so) excerpt and then link to the full article.

Violators get one warning through either PM or a reply post. A reply with your understanding ('ah, okay, got it, won't happen again') is appreciated. Multiple offences without acknowledging warnings are grounds for a ban.

Yeah the worst is when people start threads to advertise. It's one thing if a thread is already created and it is relevant and you mention your options amongst a list of competitors, but that's about it.

Too much good stuff on this board to mess it up by being the portion of the horse that holds the tail outta the dirt.
