I think this is a good topic because of the limitlessness things you can do. Lucid dreaming is where you dream and are aware that you are so you can "control" you dream. I did this for the 2nd time Friday i was all like "dude i am dreaming" and just like that i made the ground neon green and the sky neon yellow it was gnarley. so my question is have you or do you lucid dream? if so share your dream (keep it clean) and techniques you do so you can know your dreaming. peace

if so share your dream (keep it clean)-"Zen Hippie"
I LOL'D! You know me and my teenage brain too well.
I'm one of those people who don't remember my dreams very often at all. I think I've had maybe two lucid dreams in my entire life, and they were incredibly enjoyable. I've thought about trying to learn how to induce them, but my sleep patterns seem restful and steady enough as it is. I'm afraid that I would be running myself down by using my brain 24/7!

I'm pretty sure all my lucid dreams are inappropriate to share. LOL! Just last night I had this dream that kittens loved to swim. So, I was boating on this lake with tons of lake homes, and a bunch of people were bringing their kittens out for me to take swimming. It was very lucid, I knew I was dreaming once I started bringing the kittens back to their houses. In the dream I couldn't remember the houses where the kittens were supposed to go, but I realized it was a dream. So I decided that there was a drop-off place for kittens and all the owners were there. lol.
I'm sure you're all glad you know about my kitten boating dreams now...

My favorite lucid dreams find me flying over some beautiful landscape. They typically start off with me running, then I realize I'm dreaming, so I jump like Carl Lewis doing the long jump, only I never come down. My favorite thing is to fly over the Caribbean!

Some of my lucid dreams have been like that. But some have felt much more real. Like just waking up in bed and knowing that you are not 'physically' awake. That's very interesting.
Remembering dreams takes practice, you could say it's a habit to build. Just need to always try to remember dreams and write down anything you do remember. Before I started trying to remember dreams I would be lucky to remember 1. Then after practicing for a month or so. I would find myself waking up after dreams during the night and remembering 3-5.
If you are into lucid dreaming you should also look up astral travel.

I have an immediate 'flinch' response to 'astral travel' (which I assume is the same as 'astral projection'). Could you elaborate on it?

I believe this is going to be a very good topic of discussion, thanks for your posts.
This dream i am about to tell is not lucid but funny." so i was on my school bus we had just crossed the bridge. i am talking to my friend and he is telling me about giant squirrels and i am looking in the woods out the window and i see the hind leg of a big animal. suddenly it jumps down to the road and its a orange and white hamster creature, i told my friend and he saw it but he said "that does not count its not a squirrel"" i awoke laughing uncontrollably. now what do you make of that?

I love lucid dreaming. I used to do the lucid dreaming techniques before bed and had pretty good success, although I'm out of practice now and need to kick myself in the butt to start up again. I've had some wild imaginative dreams, and when I'm lucid I can control my character within them. I talk to "God" in my dreams, fly around, walk through mirrors, and do all sorts of crazy stuff that I can think of.
I like lucid dreaming because it can feel like a spiritual experience, even if it isn't one. Some people try to make it more than it is, in my opinion, with astral projection and "dream worlds" and things like that. To my knowledge, no one has really been able to prove that with any certainty. But yeah, even if lucid dreaming is just something that goes on in our own minds, it is very cool. Very fun.

See, that's exactly what I was thinking. It's obviously just in your own head, and that's cool enough as it is; I don't know why people have to start dragging all this weird, near-magical stuff into it.
I've seen DreamViews before, and I recall they had pretty good articles on the subject. But I'm still curious: Does lucid dreaming still allow for a good night's sleep? Do you wake up rested or as if you've actually been awake?

For some, I guess it just makes it more special to them. I mean, hey, I want to believe in magic and all sorts of wonderful things too. It sounds cool. But I'm not going to lie to myself if there is no proof of such things. I don't want to lie to myself.
To answer your question:
In my experience, I wake up rested and normal as if I did not have a lucid dream.
One technique to induce lucid dreams is to wake yourself up every two hours with a gentle alarm. This will increase the odds of having a lucid dream (and it works for many, including me). Using this specific technique will not allow you as much rest as normal, but there are other techniques.
