What quotes keep you guys inspired and motivated?
I started keeping a journal/file of quotes in 2001 (Ironically September 11th, 2001) with quotes that mean something to me or inspire me. I am now on a second notebook.

(Is your use of 'ironically' appropriate? I'd use 'interestingly', 'appropriately', 'unexpectedly', or one of a host of alternatives. Then again, 'ironically' might actually fit there.)
The first quote to come to mind is when I told a friend in IRC that I had tried something over and over again and yet seen no improvement in my situation. He said (quoting from memory), "It's not that you were trying something that never works. You tried something and it didn't work at that time." That directly contradicts the Law of Brain Guy ("As a wise old Observer once said, 'To constantly repeat the same action and expect a variant reaction is surely a sign of madness.'"), which I have long held as a personal philosophy. Therefore, my friend was encouraging me to not be quite so severe about repeating the same action.

"The sun is going to rise again in the morning." or, also can be shortened to "The sun will rise again."
I think thats the only quote that keeps me going, really.

Bill my bus driver:do you know the meaning of life jack(me)
Me:no what?
Bill: the meaning of life is to live it!
Me: how did you find that out?
Bill: saw it on a bumper sticker.

"May your world be full of color and your crayons never melt."
- Tymm
"Be content with what you have, rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you."
- Lao Tzu
The first one reminds me to be youthful and take pleasure in life. The second one makes me realize that I should be content with how things are instead of trying to wait for the next change. I used to sit around waiting for the NEXT THING or the next gadget, the next game, the next etc. Then I realized I was missing out on what I have and those around me. It reminds me to be thankful for what I have and take the time to be present and enjoy it.
Reminding myself to be present in general helps me loads.

I have the following quote from one of Colin Beavin's posts on his NoImpactMan blog in my email, and every time I read it I feel re-inspired to try and make a difference and not to give up on the human race:
"I believe in the goodness of human nature. I believe we can get distracted by many things, but that, ultimately, we all want to do what is best. Because that is true of people, I believe we can make the planet better for all of us, that we can have peace, feed the hungry and end war."
It's nothing particularly deep or clever, but coming from someone like Colin who has made the effort to change his life and snub the established and accepted lifestyle that is killing our planet and communities it means a lot to me.

There are many important quotes in my life, but if I had to choose one: "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss

that was a great quote to hear today - thanks!
might as well add one since I replied...hmm I pick..
"those who hesitate wait
....
and wait
..
and wait"
when Bandler said that it stuck with me for some reason. It's a good reminder to stop waiting and start living.

In honor of George Carlin's passing, here are a few from him:
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
"A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff."
"Have you ever noticed, in traffic, anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac! "Would you look at this idiot? Take a look at this idiot right here, just creeping along... Woah, look at that maniac go!""
"Dusting is a good example of the futility of trying to put things right. As soon as you dust, the fact of your next dusting has already been established."
"Standing ovations have become far too commonplace. What we need are ovations where the audience members all punch and kick one another."
"I'm always relieved when someone is delivering a eulogy and I realize I'm listening to it." This one is a bit of a funny seizure quote.
"Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that." "Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough money not to quit."
You can find many more on his WikiQuote page.

Here are a few from my quote files....
No struggle, no progress- Fredrick Douglas
Dreams do come true, if we only wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it. - J.M. Barrie
It's too big a world to be in competition with everyone. The only person who I have to be better than is myself. - MASH

One I'm carrying around on an index card in my journal right now:
I need to take more notice of this, because I have a tendency to think if I'm not occupying myself with something that I'm wasting time. I need to make more time for simple contemplation.
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky is hardly a waste of time. - J Lubbock
