From a previous post by Our Leader:

What new habit will you form this month? Use the power of the group to motivate you to success!

Remember:

1. One habit at a time is best.
2. Small goals are more successful in these challenges — don't bite off too much at once.
3. If you post every day to this forum, you'll be more successful — more accountability = better motivation.

Good luck everyone!

Here's my edited-down version of Mike's handy bookmarklet:

[code:1:776d6033e7]javascript:(function(){document.getElementsByName('message')[0].value='(PUT HABIT GOAL HERE): ';})()[/code:1:776d6033e7]

And here's a version for those with two goals:

[code:1:776d6033e7]javascript:(function(){document.getElementsByName('message')[0].value='(PUT HABIT GOAL HERE): \\n(PUT SECOND HABIT GOAL HERE): ';})()[/code:1:776d6033e7]

The outputs look like this:

[code:1:776d6033e7](PUT HABIT GOAL HERE):
(PUT SECOND HABIT GOAL HERE):[/code:1:776d6033e7]

Let the habit-creating begin! Time for the first and by far easiest step commence: Choose a habit to develop!

Okay, I wrote a lengthy email last night hoping to be at the front of the line :) and realize now that i'm going to simplify my goal. However, I don't quite understand what a bookmarklet is, although recognize some of the html text, but am not quite so techno savvy, so here goes:

I am going to get to bed by 10 pm every night. This will ensure a good effort at a good sleep which is the single most important thing to attaining my many other goals.

Please explain the bookmarklet so that I can do this with efficiency!

I'm carrying over my goal from June and adding one big thing and two small things.

Last month's goal was to get up right when my alarm went off at 6:30 so that I'd actually be able to have breakfast / shower properly / etc without having to race out the door to work at the last minute. This month I'm going to reinforce the wake up @ 6:30 habit and add these:

* Go for a quick bike ride down the street right after waking up (Gets the blood flowing! Plus it's a start to forming a regular exercise habit)
* Brush teeth three times a day, mouthwash three times a day, and floss once a day. Time to step up the dental hygiene :D
* Shave every morning. I usually walk around 6 days a week looking like a lumberjack. This needs to stop.

I'm really focusing on the morning routine right now because I find that if my morning starts off good, the rest of the day flows very nicely. Wish me luck! Good luck to all of you as well!

Hey everyone, this month I want to focus on staying away from one type of junk food: sweets. My goal is to ultimately limit all junk food intake, but I just don't know if I could handle all of that at once. Also for me it's the sweets that make me feel sick after eating enough of it.

Also, I want to give a go at some other goals this month, but I'll only be posting on "junk food"
-dispute and replace one self-defeating belief a day (thanks to Albert Ellis and REBT)
-write down two things I'm grateful for everyday (small or big things)
-20 minutes of exercising or meditation every day

April: meditate at least 10 min every day 16/24 May: skip June: early rising 20/30 July: eat no sweet junk food

So I'm still working on getting up on time... although I'm having less trouble getting up on time, and more trouble avoiding to jump back into bed!!

So here are my goals for July:
*Work (and actually be productive) from 8 am to 5 pm -> When I get to work late or don't work efficiently, I stay at work in the evenings, and then my other projects don't get done, and I get no me time, and that makes me want to sleep in in the morning... vicious circle...
*Exercise or practice dancing every day (at least 30 min) -> I've done this one before, and it went really well, but it slipped when the month was over.
*Read before bed -> Another easy one, as I love to read, I just never take the time to do it.

Good luck everyone!

I think I'm going to go with doing something every day toward my goal of getting the house remodeled, or at least toward the larger goal of having it be a place I'm proud of. The remodel is my major goal for the year and I don't feel like I've made enough progress on it yet. Not that I don't also need to do something about my abs and my social life and that three-year-old knitting project in the closet.

I want to get to the point where both of my email boxes (work and personal) are zeroed every day, and my home office In-Box is always zeroed. However, all of my inboxes are overflowing (1946 emails, three giant piles in the den). Thus my goal for July is to break off a little piece every day so I can begin August with emptied InBoxes.

1.) Every day get rid of 100 old emails and don't accumulate new emails.
2.) 15 minutes every day work on InBox in the den.
3.) Write 1 thank you a day. I did this 1 month and it was so much fun. I am getting married in August and the presents are already coming in, and so this is a very good time to make sure this habit stays strong.

No idea how to do whatever HTML thing was posted earlier!

First time trying out the monthly challenge so I'll start with baby steps.

1. Get out of bed as soon as my alarm goes off at 9AM - I did this successfully for about two months but have fallen back into old habits, so this is the important one for me this month.
2. Study every day - Doesn't matter if it's just a quick 15 minute session, I want to get into a habit of doing this every day.
3. Work every day - Again, doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to get into a routine of doing this consistently.

This is a habit I started last Thursday but want to make a goal for this month, so here it goes.

Mon-Fri: Out of bed by 5:45am (5:30 preferable but I'm giving myself a 15 minute window for now)
Mon-Fri: Jog in the morning right after waking up. It is neat seeing the sunrise! I don't have a goal distance for the end of the month non-stop; maybe I will after talking to my doctor about it this Thursday.
Mon, Wed, Fri: Hundred push-up challenge. This is my second week, and it looks promising :)

30 more days.

Here are my two:

1. Drink 12oz or less of soda on weekdays (cutting back on my newly acquired caffeine/Pepsi addiction). Limit of 24 oz (two cans) on weekends.
2. Floss my teeth every night (instead of once a week or less like I am now).

Did pretty well last month, according to my standards. And I passed all of my classes this spring 2008 quarter! :D Hope the positive reinforcement keeps me going for the summer quarter.

July Challenges

1. Be on time for class.
2. Swallow three work frogs (15 min. each) a day.
3. Floss.

Post 2 things I'm thankful for per day to my livejournal, then give a thankful prayer.

After the month is up, I think I'll compile the list.

My July habit is to spend a couple minutes every morning and night on mindfulness and gratitude. There are lots of other habits I want to form, but I think if I can get this one down, the others will follow.

Hi everyone

I've been away from the site for awhile but I figured July was as good a time as any to get back to the monthly challenge.

A little background:

I am in the procees of selecting an on line masters degree program.
Some of the criteria: Master of Arts in the areas of : Leadership, Orgnizational Development . Some of the areas of interest under the broader categories described above are : consulting , mentoring , coaching, change management,
communication, strategy, talent management and others.

My objective is to pick what will be the best program for me, based on my current and future goals(personal and professional) by July 31. I want to start this fall.

So, here is my challenge. As suggested by Leo, I will keep it simple:

I will do something everyday in the procees of selecting the best on line masters program for me.

So there it is. 8) Wish me luck :D

Good luck to all of you!

I've rejoined the gym after totally failing to establish an exercise routine at home. So my challenge for July is to establish a three times a week habit. I have a program set up to stick to and to up the intensity of over the next few weeks until I have a reassesment.

July Challenge: Gym on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

My July Challenge:

* Meditate for at least 5 minutes, twice daily.

This is partly inspired by reading "The Art of Doing Nothing" on this site.
