Help! I am avoiding my bills and papers, and they have been piling up for 1-1/2 years! It is a pit I cannot stand to face. The rest of my life is going very well, I am successful in my career, work out, eat well, and have 4 wonderful children.

My paper mess consumes energy in my mind, has caused a cluttered feeling, but has become overwhelming.

Part of the problem is because I do not have enough money to go around! But I am left with a lot of assets, a lot of bills, and am overwhelmed.

I do not know what to do!

Check the phonebook/online for professional organizers and life coaches. The former will be able to help you sort out your papers; the latter will help you deal with that stress in your life and get things on-track again.

Years back, I had a huge pile of stuff in my bedroom - laundry, books, junk, trash, and so on. It was a major source of depression to me, to the point that I hung a curtain halfway through my room so I wouldn't have to look at it while I sat at my desk or lay in bed! I eventually started taking down the pile by inboxing it once a day (fill up an inbox, process one thing at a time from it). Just exerting this tiny amount of power over it gave me the confidence I needed to eventually tackle it wholesale and get it cleared out.

In other words, it sounds like you have a confidence problem. You need to prove to yourself that you can deal with these papers, even if it takes a while.
